Child Support
Whether you have an obligation to pay child support or you are entitled to receive it, you want the amount calculated fairly. Those payments can be a significant portion of your monthly finances.
I am Sanders Law, P.C., a child support lawyer in Macon, Georgia. I represent child support cases in connection with divorce as well as paternity actions. The child support calculation can be complex, and it is in your financial interest to seek a lawyer’s help.
Georgia Child Support Guidelines
The Georgia child support formula calculates the amount of support based on:
- The incomes of the both parents
- Which parent has primary child custody
- The number of overnight visits the child has with the noncustodial parent each year
- Health insurance premiums and day care costs
- Any special needs the child may have
If you or your spouse is self-employed or owns a business, determining income can require a certain amount of detective work. When necessary, I hire forensic accountants and other experts to ensure that the income is stated accurately.
Since child custody can affect child support, I am prepared to help you protect your financial interests when negotiating a child custody arrangement with your spouse.
I also handle child support modifications.
